Decided this time to replace the engine ..with a 39k mile rev 4 from Ebay...
Dropped engine, kept rev 3 loom, plenum and manifolds, Gearbox and clutch , and transferred on the Rev 4 engine. Inspected the bores and bottom end on the 'new' engine and everything seemed fine ......replaced the head gasket (as a precaution) ,,,and put all the bits back together again ...and put it in back in with some new MT90 and Motul 300 ...and it started first time and sounded good ....
